Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has explained how he believes there is a lot more to come from his side this season, as quoted by the Shields Gazette.
Despite the odd hiccup, the Magpies have handled their introduction to life in the Championship in rather impressive fashion thus far, and currently sit third in the table, three points behind league leaders Huddersfield Town.

The Toon Army rightly expect even more, however, and Benitez spoke to the Shields Gazette, and described how the team still has the potential to grow.
In response to a question asking if his side were still a work in progress, Benitez responded:
“Definitely, 100%. I’m really pleased with them, but still there is room for improvement. It is obvious and very clear.”
If the Spaniard is proved right, and there is still room for improvement amongst his squad, Newcastle fans must take comfort in the fact that they are grinding out results, whilst not being at their best.

The North-East outfit face a run of very winnable games after the international break, with an away trip to Barnsley sandwiched by two home games against Brentford and Ipswich Town respectively.
If Benitez’ men do improve as a unit, it could be this stretch of games where Newcastle climb their way to the top of the table.
