Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been linked with Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Brighton had an offer of £8 million for the Serbia international striker turned down by Premier League rivals Newcastle this week.
The report has also claimed that an offer close to £15m could be enough to convince the Magpies to part company with the 23-year-old.

However, latest comments from Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez suggest that Brighton are not going to get Mitrovic.
Benitez has been quoted as saying by the Magpies’ official Twitter page that he is not going to sell the former Anderlecht striker to a Premier League club.

Mitrovic is struggling for playing time at Newcastle at the moment, but one can understand Benitez’s stance.
After all, with both the Magpies and Brighton struggling for survival in the Premier League this season, it would not make much sense for Newcastle to sell a striker to the Seagulls and strengthen them.
