Aston Villa have been linked with Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons in the January transfer window.

Aarons has been on the books of Newcastle since 2012, but the 22-year-old winger has failed to establish himself in the Magpies’ first team.
The former England Under-20 international has been able to play just 137 minutes of Premier League football for Newcastle so far this season, according to WhoScored.

Benitez told The Shields Gazette about Aarons: “One that maybe now has more chance to leave is Rolando Aarons.
“I was talking with him and he was saying we were bringing in another player and maybe he could go. But we need to have the right team for him.
“We had one good option, but now we have to wait and then we are waiting for any other options.”

Benitez’s comments should invite Aston Villa to make a move for Aarons, as they were linked with the Newcastle winger in December.
According to The Mirror (Transfer live blog, 15:06, December 4, 2017), Villa were among a number of clubs looking at the youngster (click here to read more).
Given that Newcastle are now open to the idea of the letting the winger leave on loan, it would make sense for the Villans to strike a deal.
Villa are aiming to win promotion from the Championship to the Premier League, and a player of Aarons’ quality would enhance their chances.
