Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has denied reports of a rift with Chelsea linked forward Jose Callejon.
Jose Callejon has been linked with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid, but Napoli coach Rafa Benitez isn’t scared of losing him.
Callejon was one of Napoli’s brightest stars of last season scoring 15 goals after joining the Serie A side from Real Madrid this time last year.
The Spaniard’s exploits earned him the attention of several big European clubs and Callejon has publicly stated that he believes Jose Mourinho would like to bring him to Chelsea.
Speculation that Callejon is on the way out has intensified after reports of training ground arguments with Benitez and his being taken off early during friendlies, but the ex-Liverpool boss has played down such talk.
“Callejon was lacking intensity but there is no problem. I brought him here and I said that he could score 20 goals and I wanted him in the national team.
“Lots of teams have made big offers and we have said no, but there is no issue or controversy.”
Benitez was also asked about Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano, who was a summer transfer target.
“He was a good proposition, but I also like Kim Basinger,” he joked.
