Benik Afobe has told the Beautiful Game Podcast that he can see Everton or Aston Villa coming in to try and sign Jack Wilshere if he impresses this season.

Wilshere has had to drop into the Championship to find a new club, and he has begun to catch the eye at Bournemouth.

The playmaker is enjoying a run of games, but his contract at Dean Court only lasts for six months.

And if Wilshere keeps on performing Afobe has suggested that he could see Everton or Villa making a move for the England international at the end of the season.

“It’s a win, win. It’s six months, so if he doesn’t like it he’s not tied down,” the former Arsenal striker, who is good friends with Wilshere, said.

“If he does like it and they go up – he can say look what I’ve done for you guys.

“It’s just about getting his name out there. And getting games under his belt again.

“The problem is people think he’s not fit. It’s the stigma. If he plays 20 games, does well, gets a few goals and a few assists like the other day – the Evertons will be calling him, maybe even the Aston Villas, because they like those sorts of players.”

Whether Aston Villa actually need Wilshere is very much open to debate.

Dean Smith’s side have taken Ross Barkley on loan this term, and if he is to move permanently to Villa Park, then it is difficult to see where Wilshere would fit in.

Everton, meanwhile, may be on the hunt for a playmaker, but whether Wilshere would actually be on their radar is questionable.

Everton have the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson and James Rodriguez already in their team, who Wilshere would come into direct competition with if he was to move to Goodison Park.
