Wolverhampton Wanderers have the option to buy many of the players who are currently on loan at Molineux in the summer.
Wolves legend Steve Bull spoke exclusively to the Express & Star for a light-hearted Q&A session, and responded to a question asking him which player he would sign on a permanent basis out of Leo Bonatini and Benik Afobe in the summer.
The Black Country outfit currently sit at the top of the Championship table, six points clear of second placed Cardiff City, and more importantly 10 points ahead of third placed Aston Villa.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are currently in the midst of their first real mini-blip of the season so far, having taken just two points from their last three league outings.
Wolves have a chance to get back on track tomorrow night with a trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds United, and Nuno has a big decision to make regarding which player he starts up front.
Bull, who scored a club record 306 goals for Wolves, responded to a question asking him which player he would sign permanently in the summer out of Bonatini and Afobe, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“Afobe has had a couple of weeks now where he’s come on for 20 minutes, here and there. He’s ready to go, his confidence will only get stronger the more he plays. We haven’t brought him here to just sit on the bench. I would go with Benik Afobe all day long.”
Bonatini has scored 12 goals in 32 Championship appearances thus far for Nuno’s side, but he has not scored since December 4th.
Afobe, meanwhile, has failed to score in five outings for Wolves, although all of his appearances so far have come from the substitutes bench.
Wolves could obviously opt to sign both players on a permanent basis in the summer, but with the strength in depth that they have in the forward department, that will be extremely unlikely.
