Afobe moved to Stoke City just 11 days after he signed a permanent contract at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Stoke City’s Benik Afobe has labelled Wolverhampton Wanderers ‘disrespectful’ for ‘messing him about’ during the summer transfer window.
Afobe spent the second half of last season back at Wolves on loan, having left Molineux for Bournemouth in January 2016.
And the 25-year-old scored six goals in 16 games as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side cruised to the Championship title.
That convinced Wolves to take up their option to sign Afobe in a £10 million permanent deal, only to sell him on to Stoke just 11 days later – although he is technically on loan with the Potters until January 2019.
And Stoke’s new number 9 told the Sun: “I could become a pub quiz question for that.
“I want to put the record straight because people are thinking Wolves were under an obligation to sign me. They weren’t.
“The deal was simple. I was loaned from Bournemouth until the end of the season and Wolves had an option to sign me for £10 million in the summer. If they didn’t want to, they could say, ‘No thanks’.

“I had done well, scored six goals in seven starts and Wolves went ahead with it. They made me believe I was part of their plans. I did the medical, signed the contract and thought, ‘Great, I’m happy’.
“Then, four days later, my agent told me, ‘The manager wants to bring in a few strikers and isn’t going to play you’. I asked, ‘What if I’m the best player in pre-season, every single training session, every single friendly I play?’
“He replied, ‘You’ll still not be in his plans’. So I thought, ‘Uh, OK, I better leave’.

“It was disrespectful. I’ve got a baby daughter and a heavily pregnant wife. The last thing we needed was to be messed about.
“It also caused embarrassment. Everywhere I went, football fans would ask about it and I’ve had to justify myself to not look stupid.”

Wolves have brought in the Benfica striker Raul Jimenez to replace Afobe, although another addition is anticipated in the pair’s position before next Thursday’s deadline.
The Black Country club also activated their option to sign Leo Bonatini on a permanent basis, despite the Brazilian front man having failed to score since December 2017.
