Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United want to sign Enzo Fernandez, but Benfica will reportedly not sell the Argentina international central midfielder in the January transfer window.
Benfica stance on Liverpool and Manchester United target Enzo Fernandez
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Benfica have no intension of selling Fernandez in January.
Romano has added that the 21-year-old has a release clause of €120 million (£103 million) in his contract.
Fernandez is part of the Argentina squad at the 2022 Qatar World Cup at the moment.
Argentina have reached the quarter-finals of the competition.
Sport reported in October that Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona are interested in the youngster.
90min claimed in November that Manchester United are keeping tabs on the Fernandez and have scouted him this season.
Fernandez moved to Portuguese giants Benfica from Argentine powerhouse River Plate in the summer of 2022.

Could a transfer happen in January?
In our opinion, Liverpool or Manchester United are unlikely to pay £103 million for Enzo Fernandez in the January transfer window.
Benfica will surely not sell the Argentina international for anything less than his release clause.
Liverpool could do with signing one or two quality midfielders, but it is hard to see FSG write a cheque for over £100 million on a single player in the middle of the season, especially when they are trying to sell the club.
United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.
Fred is also showing for Brazil at the 2022 Qatar World Cup that he can be an asset for any team if he is played to his strengths.
Now, of course, a player like Fernandez, who is only 21 and has huge potential, would make any side better, but we do not think that the Red Devils would spend over £100 million in the middle of the season on one player when the Glazers are looking to sell the club.
