Roma defender Mehdi Benatia’s relationship with the club is at crisis point after he rejected another contract offer and alternatives are being lined up.
Mehdi Benatia seems to be keen to quit Roma and top of the list of potential replacements is Manchester City’s Matija Nastasic.
The Benatia saga has been rumbling on for some time with the Moroccan having been linked to Man City, Manchester United then Chelsea and now Bayern Munich.
After last season’s brilliant displays, Benatia has demanded a massive pay rise, possibly in order to have an excuse to quit Roma and the Eternal City side have been unable to match his expected salary.
Benatia’s agent is said to be pushing for a move to Bayern Munich but the German side are said to have only offered £24 million while Roma want at least £32 million.
It is being reported that Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is lining up replacements for Benatia and will first move for Nastasic, whose position at Manchester City seems to be in doubt.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Vlad Chiriches is seen as the second option because Roma may not be able to beat competition from Juventus for Nastasic.
