Ben Williams has told The Record that Leigh Griffiths will save Celtic millions this summer.
The 28-year-old striker has declared himself ready for the Hoops’ pre-season after missing the last six months.
Griffiths hasn’t kicked a ball for Celtic after being given time off for personal reasons back in December.
Then-manager Brendan Rodgers had to sign Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah as short-term replacements but, with both returning to their parent clubs, Odsonne Edouard and Griffiths are now Neil Lennon’s only reliable centre-forward options.
Williams played alongside the Scottish hitman at Hibernian, and the 36-year-old goalkeeper says that his former team-mate’s return will prevent Celtic from having to break the bank on a replacement.
He told The Record: “Alongside another good striker in Edouard it would save Celtic millions in finding a potential replacement of his ability.
“He is a natural striker, on form one of the best I’ve played with. He loves scoring and has that clinical, selfish ability strikers need.”

Griffiths might be the best goalscorer in Scottish football on his day, having netted 40 times during the 2015-16 campaign. Moussa Dembele and Rangers’ Alfredo Morelos never reached more than 30 in a single season, which illustrates how devastating Griffiths can be.
