Arsenal defender Ben White has posted a heart emoji, added with a picture of Leeds celebrating their promotion win in 2020 on his Instagram story, after the club sacked Marcelo Bielsa.

On Sunday, Leeds made the difficult call of ending Bielsa’s reign in Yorkshire that saw the club earn promotion back to the Premier League.

White, who is now on Arsenal’s books, was part of that Leeds side that returned to the big time because he was on loan from Brighton, at the time.

There will no doubt be a sombre mood in Yorkshire because Bielsa was a very popular man at the club.

From White to Kalvin Phillips, not only did he help the club earn promotion after so long in the wilderness, but he helped change the careers of many players.

White is now an England international and he is gunning for Champions League football with Arsenal.

Bielsa’s no-nonsense and all-action style has helped pave that path for the ball-carrying centre-back.

When the dust has settled, many will look back on Bielsa’s reign with very fond memories because he has left a legacy at the club.

But, for now, it’s a case of bringing in a replacement because they are heading towards relegation at this rate.

Former RB Leipzig coach, Jesse Marsch, is the man backed to replace Bielsa, as reported by the Guardian.

The American is also known for his all-action and front foot style, so from that perspective, he fits the bill regarding what these players have been used to playing in recent years.
