Perry Groves has said on talkSPORT (1:23pm, July 18, 2023) that he wanted Arsenal to sign Ben White after watching him against Leeds United in the FA Cup.

The former Arsenal winger believes that White is a very good defender who can play out from the back.

The two-time league winner with Arsenal has said that he wanted the Gunners to sign him after watching him in action for Leeds at the Emirates Stadium in 2020.

Groves said on talkSPORT (1:23pm, July 18, 2023): “Three seasons ago Arsenal played Leeds in the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium. Leeds should have been three or four up in the first 25 or 30 minutes. He was on loan.

“I watched him and I thought he is a player that Arsenal should be in for because he is good on the ball, he is good at bringing it out of the back. He is very calm, he is a very calm defender.”

Which match was it?

The match that Groves is referring to was played at the Emirates Stadium in January 2020.

It was the FA Cup third-round tie between Arsenal and Leeds in North London.

The West Yorkshire club lost 1-0, with White starting for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
