Duncan Castles has claimed on The Transfer Window podcast that Chelsea are now interested in signing Arsenal target Ben White.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Chelsea have notified White that they want to sign him from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.

The journalist has also said that Arsenal have improved on their offer to Brighton and has shared details about it.

Chelsea want Ben White

Castles said on The Transfer Window podcast, as transcribed by The Express: “My understanding is that this week they (Arsenal) have improved their offer, increased the initial down payment and made the schedule of the payments over the course of the contract more attractive to Brighton. But as yet there is not an agreement between the two clubs on the transfer fee.”

The journalist added, as transcribed by The Express: “We’ve told you there’s been interest and a conversation with Manchester City. I now understand that Chelsea have notified the player of their interest in signing him.”

Arsenal’s Ben White transfer in doubt?

The Guardian reported last month that Arsenal are confident of signing White for £45 million plus £5 million in add-ons.

However, this latest twist, as reported by Castles, is worrying for the Gunners.

Chelsea won the Champions League last season and will compete for the Premier League title in 2021-22.

The Blues are better placed than Arsenal to win trophies on a regular basis.

In fact, Chelsea have won major trophies regularly in recent years and will continue to do so.

Yes, Arsenal are a big club and are a global brand, but so are Chelsea.

Needless to say, Brighton will sell White to whichever club pay the most money.

It could eventually come down to what the 23-year-old, who can also play as a right-back and in midfield, wants.
