Leeds United signed Helder Costa on loan for the coming Championship season, and his deal will reportedly become permanent for £15 million next summer.

Ben Parker has told Leeds United’s official YouTube channel that Helder Costa is the signing of the summer across the Championship, and suggested that the winger is a typical Leeds player due to the excitement that he will provide.

Costa is definitely Marcelo Bielsa’s marquee addition of the window. The Daily Mail have confirmed that Leeds have taken the Wolves forward on loan for the coming campaign, and they will then make his deal permanent for £15 million next summer.

The agreement means that Costa is about to become one of the club’s most expensive additions of all-time. And while some may have concerns about the future outlay given he had struggled to replicate the form he showed during his first year at Molineux, Parker insisted that he believes that the move is going to prove to be an absolute masterstroke.

“I think it’s the signing of the season in the Championship,” he told the club’s official YouTube channel. “The word going around last season was we were creating chances, always creating chances, but can we find that someone that can put the ball into the back of the net regularly or just keep adding to the threat going forward.

“We’ve seen at Wolves, the amount of goals he got, the amount of assists he got, especially in the Championship, I think he’ll add to an already-attacking outfit. And what he gives is competition for places.

“Costa is a typical Leeds United player because Leeds fans love exciting players where you’re sat on the edge of your seat, you’re wanting him to get on the ball, wanting him to create things, so it’s great. And it’s a great coup to get him for this year.”

Costa has looked bright throughout pre-season and appears to already be forming an exciting understanding with last season’s talisman Pablo Hernandez as part of the front three.

Of course, he will need to prove that he can follow up the excitement he creates by contributing goals and assists. But Bielsa has transformed a number of players since arriving at Elland Road, so there is every chance that Costa could provide that piece of magic that Leeds need to get themselves over the line this time around.
