Leeds United's Kiko Casilla celebrates after the match with Ben White

Ben Parker has singled out Leeds United’s Kiko Casilla for praise after Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

The spoils were shared in yesterday’s Yorkshire derby and that is largely down to Casilla and opposite number Keiren Westwood.

Westwood denied Leeds a certain goal by producing a wonderful finger-tip save to keep out Patrick Bamford on the stroke of half time, while his Spanish counterpart also made good saves at the other end.

Casilla, who joined the Whites from Real Madrid in January, doesn’t often get praise for his performances, but the club’s in-house pundit Ben Parker said it was an ‘excellent’ display from the big man.

He told LUTV: “You mentioned Kiko there and I thought he was excellent today. The saves he produced. Coming for crosses it looked like a really assured performance from him.”

Casilla had a shocker toward the end of last season in conceding a goal which led to Marcelo Bielsa’s side losing the playoff semi-final to Derby County.

That being said, he has looked impervious this season, a big reason as to why Leeds have only conceded eight goals in 14 Championship games.

The defence gets a hell of a lot of credit for this – especially Ben White – but the former Real Madrid man is a factor too and more performances like yesterday will prove as much.
