Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster has been discussing Emerson Royal after his red card on Saturday.

The Brazilian has the indignity of being sent off in the north London derby, and while it was an all-round poor performance from Spurs, Emerson’s red card was the real nail in the coffin for this game.

Unfortunately for the wing-back, he was a nominee for Foster’s ‘Chump of the Week’ award after his showing, stating that the South American pretty much ruined the north London derby with his lack of discipline.

Foster lambastes Emerson Royal

The pundit wasn’t best pleased with the Tottenham man after his red card at the weekend.

“Also another nominee is Emerson Royal for Tottenham. At the end of the day he didn’t have a great game, but he went and almost ruined the north London derby. The game was already 2-1 and then he was sent off, it’s game over,” Foster said.

Cost his team

Emerson didn’t have the best of games against Arsenal, and he cost his team any sort of chance to get back into the match.

At the time of his sending off, the game was still in the balance, but after Tottenham went down to 10 men, any chance of Spurs getting back into this match went out of the window.

It ruined the game for Spurs and it took away from the match as a spectacle for any neutral viewers, because, as Foster says, the game was all over after that point.

Derby games can often be brought to life by a red card, but this one completely deflated the flow of the match.
