Foster makes claims that £65k-a-week West Ham ace is ‘world-class’- not Rice or Paqueta

Ben Foster has made the bold claim that Lukasz Fabianski at West Ham United is world-class.

It’s safe to say that this is an unpopular opinion from Foster to say the least, as Fabianski has largely never been regarded as a world-class goalkeeper throughout any period in his career.

Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta are perhaps the closest players to potentially be regarded as world-class at West Ham.

And in even the Hammers duo’s individual cases, it would be a hot take to suggest that either are worthy of the tag just yet.

Yes, there is no denying that Lukasz Fabianski has been an extremely reliable goalkeeper through large spells of his time at West Ham.

Even at Arsenal, the £65,000-a-week shotstopper was as bankable as they come when it comes to No.2’s in the league.

However, there is nothing to suggest that the Polish international has even had a single season that deems his deserving of the world-class tag.

It seems Foster was ready to ruffle some feathers with this spicy take.

Ben Foster says Lukasz Fabianski is world-class

Ben Foster has said Lukasz Fabianski at West Ham United is a world-class goalkeeper, while discussing the side’s latest 2-2 draw against Leeds United.

“Proper goalie!”

After it was suggested that Fabianski has been poor recently, Foster replied, “What are you on about? No, he’s not [been poor], he’s world-class. He’s world-class”, Foster said on his YouTube channel.

In our view: Fabianski is quality but that’s a massive stretch

While every football fan has their very own skewed definition of what qualifies as world-class, it roughly relates to at least the best 5-10 players in a specific position.

Does Ben Foster truly believe that Lukasz Fabianski is amongst the top 5-10 goalkeepers in world football?

If no, that disputes his own claim that Fabianski is world-class.
