Ahmed Hegazi has made an excellent start to life with West Bromwich Albion and has certainly impressed Ben Foster.
Ben Foster has suggested that despite knowing little about him before he joined West Brom in the summer, he has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from Ahmed Hegazi, the Express and Star reports.
The Baggies brought the centre-back to The Hawthorns on a season-long loan deal in a move that surely attracted little attention from the West Brom fans who were craving a marquee deal to kick their window into life.
But the 26-year-old has turned out to be an excellent addition to Tony Pulis’ squad, starting all six of their Premier League games so far and helping the side make a steady start to the campaign.
And Foster suggested that the Al-Ahly man has taken everyone by surprise with how good he has been since moving to England.
“He’s done amazing,” he said, as reported by the Express and Star. “Nobody really knew too much about him when he came but from his first game he took to it so easy, he looked so comfy.
“To slot into the team in the Premier League as a big centre-back like he is, you think he might be limited with this and that, but he’s got most of the attributes needed. He’s just slotted in so quickly.”
The one moment that Hegazi will not reflect positively on from his own performances came in the draw with Stoke back in August when his mistake led to the Potters’ equaliser.
But generally, Hegazi has been an great addition to the squad. And with the Express and Star reporting that he will be available to move to The Hawthorns permanently for just £3.5 million, Pulis can surely have little doubt as to whether he should make the deal a long-term one.
