Liverpool finally get the chance to right a few wrongs when they return to Premier League action this weekend.

The Reds lost their last two games in all competitions before the international break.

Liverpool fell to a 1-0 Premier League defeat at Bournemouth before losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s charges won’t have an easy fixture on their return to action. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Liverpool are up against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in Saturday’s early kickoff.

Victory for the Reds would edge them closer to the top four and deal the Citizens a critical blow to their title hopes.

On Thursday, the Liverpool media team published photos from their latest session at the AXA Training Centre.

Academy star Ben Doak featured prominently in the pictures.

The 17-year-old has been at Liverpool for less than a year, the Reds paying Celtic £600,000 for him last March.

However, Doak is already making waves on Merseyside, dominating for Liverpool’s age-level sides.

He has four goals and four assists from just six UEFA Youth League outings, and four goal contributions from five Under-18 Premier League appearances.

Doak has also featured five times for Liverpool’s Under-21s and has one goal in the EFL Trophy this term.

In addition, he has already made five appearances for the Reds’ senior team, including two in the Premier League.

‘Aggression and physicality’

Doak’s efforts have seen him make Goal.com’s NXGN 2023 list of the best 50 youngsters in world football.

‘Hailed as a “natural force” by Jurgen Klopp, Doak has wasted little time in making an impact at Liverpool having joined the Reds from Celtic in a £600,000 deal over the summer,’ they wrote.

‘The 17-year-old winger, who has been likened to Wayne Rooney due to his aggression and physicality when in possession, has already become the youngest Scot to appear in the Premier League and is an U21 international.

‘Though he currently has the likes of Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz ahead of him in the pecking order at Anfield, it won’t be long before Doak is pushing Liverpool’s established forwards for a starting berth.’

It’s great to see Doak making a name for himself at Liverpool and getting first-team opportunities.

The Reds have an outstanding talent in their ranks. And it’ll be great to see how he continues to develop at Anfield.
