The Tottenham Hotspur full-back is now adding goal-scoring to his repertoire.
Even before Danny Rose was ruled out with a long-term injury, his fellow Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies had staked a fine claim to make the position his own, but with the Wales international now adding goal-scoring to his repertoire, he has reached a whole new level.
Davies made it two goals and two assists in eight matches as he scored one and set up another in the 4-0 victory against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, and if he can become a regular threat at the opposite end of the field for Tottenham, Rose may struggle for starts when he does finally return.
Whatever the future holds for the England international, his fellow Spurs left-back has clearly proved his worth, excelling as a wing-back under Mauricio Pochettino and doing fine work at both ends of the pitch.
Harry Kane regularly and rightly takes the plaudits for his exploits, yet Davies deserves plenty of his own.
He has become a vastly different player over the last 12 months and Pochettino deserves plenty of credit for the transformation, as does the defender himself.
Tottenham may have struggled in their temporary home of Wembley, but on recent evidence they will be there or thereabouts come May and some long overdue silverware could be heading to North London.
Whatever happens, expect Davies to be vital in their endeavours, with a five-to-10 goal haul not beyond the realms of possibility.
