Ben Davies has claimed that Davinson Sanchez puts in ‘strong’ performances for Tottenham week in and week out, as he told BBC Sport.

The Tottenham left-back added that ‘everybody’ in the Spurs dressing room was ‘delighted’ that the 25-year-old got on the scoresheet for the club on New Year’s Day.

Antonio Conte’s side left it very late at Vicarage Road, as they beat relegation-threatened Watford 1-0.

In stoppage time, Heung-Min Son whipped in a dangerous free-kick for Spurs which was glanced home by Sanchez via his head.

Davies, who plays in a back three alongside the former Ajax man, praised the player for what he produces for his team.

“Everybody in the dressing room is delighted for Davinson Sanchez,” said Davies.

“He works hard. He puts in strong performances week in and week out. It’s just a nice way for him to cap it off.”

With summer signing Christian Romero out injured, it will be interesting to see where he fits back in when he returns.

Eric Dier has been one of Tottenham’s best players this season and the leader in that backline for Spurs.

Whilst both Davies and Sanchez’s performances have been lifted under their new boss.

So, Romero will have a fight on his hand when he does return to action because the players that are now ahead of him are performing.
