Ben Davies has told Sky Sports that he has played with a better player than Tottenham star Harry Kane – namely, Gareth Bale. Davies has played with Bale for Wales and Tottenham, claiming he is capable of “magic”.
Kane, 28, has returned to his best form under Antonio Conte – almost single-handedly guiding Spurs into fourth, and with the chance of Champions League qualification. Kane is performing at the peak of his powers.
The England skipper is on course to reach Alan Shearer’s record of 260 Premier League goals – boasting 178 already. He has surpassed both Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard this season, despite only scoring 12 times.
However, Wales ace Davies believes Bale is the best player he has played with – more so than Kane. Of course, Davies has played alongside Bale for club and country. But despite Kane’s records, he thinks Bale is the best.
“Gareth Bale,” Davies said, when asked by Sky Sports the identity of the best player he has played with. “I’ve played with some amazing players, but he’s done stuff in games that are just magic.
“Stuff that I’ve not seen many other players do. I’m lucky that I’ve played with players like Harry Kane, he’s up there as well, but sometimes Gareth does stuff that surprises everybody.”
Davies on Bale: Is Tottenham star Kane better than Bale at his best?
The 69-time England international has started producing the ability to be two different players on the pitch. Not only is he a centre-forward, scoring goals – seven in his last eight – but also a no.10, laying on four assists.
Bale, meanwhile, has won the trophies. His four Champions League titles and two La Liga wins is something Kane is yet to experience. So, it is personal records – or trophies. Both are utterly brilliant, at their best.
