Ben Davies has made just three Premier League starts for Tottenham Hotspur this season.
Ben Davies has insisted in the Hamstead and Highgate Newspaper that he is happy at Tottenham Hotspur, despite a lack of first-team opportunities this season.
Davies has made just three Premier League starts all campaign, and only 12 appearances in total.
However, the Welsh defender insists that he is perfectly content at White Hart Lane, as he battles with Danny Rose for a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s line-up.
“I’m happy as it is at the moment,” Davies said. “I’m still young and I’m learning a lot here. The competition has definitely improved me as a player, and when I get the opportunities I have to try to do my best and make a mark and show what I can do.
“When you’re competing with someone, you have that drive to do as well as possible. I like to think it works both ways – that Danny and I have both improved in the time that we’ve been competing with each other to be the best we can be. You can see with Danny, some of his performances have been superb this year.”
Davies made a rare start for Spurs in their last match against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, and he got on the scoresheet in a 2-0 victory for the London side.
The 23-year-old defender is expected to drop back down to the substitutes’ bench at the weekend, though, when Spurs take on West Bromwich Albion in Premier League action.
Rose has been in wonderful form this campaign, and made himself a key member of Pochettino’s starting team.
Tottenham are currently in third place in the Premier League table, and will move ahead of Liverpool if they are able to beat the Baggies in their next match.
