Ben Davies responds when asked what Spurs players said in dressing room after Arsenal defeat

Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-0 at Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has told the club’s official website that there wasn’t a lot of discussion in the changing room after the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.

With Spurs impressing both in Europe and in the Premier League this season, many expected them to travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday and prove that they have overtaken their North London rivals.

With Arsenal four points behind Mauricio Pochettino’s men and reeling from a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City before the international break, Spurs went into the game as favourites – but they fell flat at the Emirates Stadium.

After Davinson Sanchez had been bizarrely penalised for a challenge on Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil picked out Shkodran Mustafi from the resulting free kick to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead.

Sanchez then found the net from close range after a cross from Alexandre Lacazette, and Spurs couldn’t drag themselves back into the game, losing 2-0.

Arsenal are now just a point behind Spurs, and with yet another away defeat in a big game, Spurs fans are somewhat concerned about the title credentials of Pochettino’s side.

After the final whistle, defender Ben Davies was asked just what was said in the dressing room after the game, but the Welshman told the club’s official website that there wasn’t too much said, such was the disappointment.

It seems that the Spurs players knew they just weren’t good enough, with no inquest necessary, but Davies looked ahead to reflecting on the performance and bouncing back quickly.

“There hasn’t been too much chat. It’s just disappointment in there at the moment and it’s about getting back into training tomorrow, reflecting on what’s happened, reflecting on the performance, learning lessons and going again.”
