Rose is expected to be out foe the whole of February.

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ben Davies has told the Daily Star that he is ready to fill in for injured first choice Danny Rose over the next few weeks.

Spurs are expected to have to cope without key man Rose until the end of February after the England man twisted his knee against Sunderland on Tuesday night.

That is undoubtedly a big blow for Mauricio Pochettino and his side. Rose has played 21 times in all competitions for the North Londoners this term, and has been an integral part of the starting XI when fit.

He now faces a frustrating spell watching from the sidelines, and there is some concern amongst Spurs fans about the impact his injury will have on the team.

However, Rose’s back-up Davies, a near-certainty to hold down a regular place in Rose’s absence, has insisted that he is ready for whatever challenges await him during his run in the side.

Davies told the Daily Star: “Of course, it is something you have to be ready for. Any opportunities that come you have to be ready to take them.

“We don’t know how bad Danny’s injury is but if it is my chance to play, then I have to do the best I can.”

“We have a big squad and big numbers. We have coped with a lot of fixtures in the past and I’m sure we will be able to do it again. We are a very fit squad, we train hard. That’s what the manager drills into us, so these are the moments we have to be ready for.”

Davies has found himself largely playing second fiddle to Rose since his arrival from Swansea City back in the summer of 2014.

In fact, during his two-and-a-half years at White Hart Lane, the 23-year-old Wales international has started just 26 Premier League games, generally being used more as a rotation option in cup competitions and Europe.

Now, though, he is gearing up for a run of games in the spotlight, and Spurs fans will be hoping that he is as ready for that as he says he is.
