Ben Davies has revealed on Twitter that it’s an ‘honour’ to join Liverpool and that he can’t wait to get going on Merseyside.

The Reds signed the former Preston North End centre-back on deadline day due to their injury crisis.

Davies has been one of the Championship’s best defenders in recent years and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that he proves an adequate stop-gap.

Since October, the Premier League champions have lost Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip – their only three senior central defenders who started the season – to long-term injuries and returning before the campaign is over seems an optimistic notion.

And here’s how the 25-year-old reacted to joining the Anfield side with what is his first message on Twitter since September of 2019.

Liverpool are home to Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday evening and it’ll be fascinating to see if one of Davies or Ozan Kabak – who also joined them on deadline day – makes Klopp’s first XI.

This is a colossal step-up in class from what Davies is used to, so Kabak, who’s on loan from Schalke, might be the best option to start alongside Nat Phillips or Fabinho, if the latter is available.
