Ben Chilwell completed a free transfer to Strasbourg this summer, bringing an end to his five-year spell at Chelsea.
Chilwell arrived at Chelsea from Leicester City in August 2020, with the club paying £45 million for his services.
His early days at Stamford Bridge were marked by success. Chilwell played a part in the club’s 2021 UEFA Champions League win over Manchester City and also picked up UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup honours.
However, things took a turn when he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament against Juventus in November 2021. The injuries that followed limited him to just 70 Premier League appearances across five seasons.
His situation worsened when he was left out of first-team training and told he was no longer needed, eventually joining the group of players known as the ‘bomb squad’.
Liam Rosenior has since helped Chilwell rediscover his form in France, hinting that there may still be more chapters left in his career.
Ben Chilwell shares thoughts on Liam Rosenior’s move to Chelsea

Liam Rosenior won’t be in the dugout for tonight’s game against Fulham, but he’ll be watching from the stands.
Even so, there has already been some positive feedback about his arrival.
Despite how things ended for him at Chelsea, Ben Chilwell responded positively to Rosenior’s appointment.
The defender took to Instagram to share his good wishes and spoke highly of Chelsea as a club.
Why Rosenior has a tough road ahead at Stamford Bridge
Liam Rosenior is stepping into a Chelsea squad sitting fifth in the Premier League but struggling with form, having won just one of their last seven league games.
One of his biggest problems is shoring up a backline that has let 15 points slip away from winning positions this season, including 13 at home.
It’s a difficult start for Rosenior as well, with his first home game coming against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
The injury situation hasn’t helped either. Key players like Cole Palmer, Reece James, and Pedro Neto have needed careful management all season, something that has been an ongoing issue under Enzo Maresca and the club’s medical staff since the summer.
