Chelsea left back Ben Chilwell has praised Cole Palmer after his performance in the 6-1 thrashing of Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Chelsea lost the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Boro, losing 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium earlier this month.
The Blues simply had to come up with a big performance in the second leg on Tuesday night and did exactly that.
Chelsea were 4-0 up by the break, effectively putting the tie beyond Boro before adding two more after half-time.
Middlesbrough did pull a late goal back but Chelsea coasted into the final, where they will meet Liverpool or Fulham.
Ben Chilwell hails Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer
This was another great night for Cole Palmer, who was sensational once again.
The 21-year-old has been a shining light for Chelsea this season, shining ever since his £42.5million move from Manchester City.
Palmer bagged Chelsea’s fourth goal of the night, stealing possession on the edge of the Boro box before slotting home.
Palmer added his second and Chelsea’s fifth in the second half, scoring from Conor Gallagher’s cut-back.
That is now 11 goals and seven assists in 23 appearances for Palmer, who continues to make a huge impact at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer is impressing his teammates and left back Ben Chilwell has now moved to praise the England international.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Chilwell has suggested that Palmer is a ‘top’ player and is just so nonchalant with his goals.
Chilwell noted that Palmer is ‘so chilled’ both on and off the pitch and wants to see him continue his brilliant form for a while yet.
“He’s top,” said Chilwell. “He’s so chilled on and off the pitch. You can see when he scores, obviously he cares, but it’s so nonchalant. It doesn’t faze him. He’s a top guy and a top player. It’s important now that he continues this. He has started, in the first half of the season, brilliantly and he is so important for us, so it’s important he continues like that for the rest of the season. We have some massive games coming up, and hopefully, he can keep it going,” he added.
Eyebrows were raised when Chelsea signed Palmer, with some believing that they had overpaid for a player who had struggled for playing time at City.
Palmer is proving his doubters wrong though, providing a consistent sources of goals and assists for this Chelsea side.
This has been a great first season in West London for Palmer and it’s clear that the Chelsea squad are loving what they are seeing from him this season.
