Brereton has made his move from Forest to Blackburn permanent.
Ben Brereton has sent a heartfelt message to Nottingham Forest fans on Twitter after his loan move at Blackburn Rovers was made permanent on Friday afternoon.
The 19-year-old striker joined Blackburn on loan from Forest in the summer in a somewhat surprising move that saw Forest allow one of their most impressive young players to leave the club.
On Friday, Blackburn completed a £7million-plus-add-ons deal (BBC) to sign the England youth international, signing a contract until the summer of 2022. He has failed to score a single goal in 16 games, but 15 have come from the bench.
The move was confirmed by Blackburn on their official website, and Brereton has sent a message to Forest fans on Twitter – thanking the club for their support and applauding the fans for his short spell in the first team.
Brereton made 57 appearances in all competitions for Forest, scoring nine goals and creating seven more with the teenager being used both out wide and as a centre-forward.
The young attacker will face his old team on April 13, when Forest play host to Brereton’s new side. Blackburn currently sit in 15th place but are only five points behind seventh-placed Forest.
