Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United have been linked with Ben Brereton, and Mark Warburton’s previous comments on the Blackburn Rovers striker will encourage the Elland Road faithful.
Leeds United interest
RedGol in Chile reported last month Leeds are interested in signing Brereton from Blackburn in the summer transfer window.
Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa reportedly has people scouting the 22-year-old striker at the Copa America.
The youngster is turning out for Chile at the prestigious tournament.
What Mark Warburton said
Warburton worked with Brereton at Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old striker was on the books of Forest from 2015 until 2019 before he moved to Blackburn.
Warburton, now in charge of Queens Park Rangers, managed the Reds from March 2017 until December 2017.
The Englishman raved about Brereton on April 8, 2017 following Forest’s 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town at the City Ground in the Championship.

Warburton told City’s official website about Brereton: “Ben is an outstanding young player. He is 17-years-old, but what a performance in terms of maturity, quality, desire, commitment, awareness, vision – he had everything today and I am delighted for him. He will be the first to say it is about the team though.
“We all know how random this game can be, but he can go to the very highest level. To show that composure and desire, to be fearless, and the cross he put in for Jamie Ward just before half time was a world class delivery. He will only get better and better.”

Encouraging for Leeds fans
Warburton is a good manager, and having worked with Brereton, he would know more than others what the youngster is capable of.
The QPR manager’s comments about the youngster are very encouraging indeed for Leeds fans.
They show just how good the Chile international is, and how much he can still improve.
Brereton is only 22, and under Bielsa, he would get better.
The Blackburn no.20 scored seven goals and gave four assists in 30 Championship starts last season.
