Alex Tettey has been integral to Norwich’s defensive game this season, but his contract is up in the summer.

Norwegian midfielder Alexander Tettey has been with the Canaries since 2012, however a seventh campaign on Norfolk is looking increasingly unlikely.

Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, Tettey revealed that the club have offered him an extension recently. The 31-year-old has been open and honest in his response, admitting that their offer has not convinced him.

“We feel like it wasn’t a good enough offer, and that is where it is,” Tettey told the Eastern Daily Press.

“I really do understand the club’s position.”

The Canaries have conceded 23 less goals at this current stage than they had last term, with the shield of Tettey and Tom Trybull generally shining ahead of Grant Hanley, Christoph Zimmermann and Timm Klose.

However, Norwich do possess alternatives in the holding midfield role, with 20-year-old Ben Godfrey excelling out on loan at Shrewsbury Town.

The situation inside the Norfolk club is evident since Stuart Webber’s summer arrival – balance the books following a difficult return to the second tier.

Daniel Farke and Webber have already overseen the exits of stars including John Ruddy, Ryan Bennett, Sebastien Bassong, Jonny Howson, Cameron Jerome and Alex Pritchard in a bid to cut expenditure.

Yellows fans have acknowledged how integral Tettey has been to their club’s incredible defensive improvements under Farke.
