West Ham United missed out on striker Andrea Belotti over the summer.

Andrea Belotti of Italy looks on during the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier between Liechtenstein and Italy on October 15, 2019 in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.

West Ham United splashed the cash on Sebastien Haller this past summer, and they’re probably pretty happy with how the Frenchman has started in the Premier Leaguge.

The Hammers broke their transfer record to sign Haller, and he’s bagged four goals and one assist in seven Premier League games, making a great start to life in England.

Haller wasn’t West Ham’s only striker target over the summer though, and whilst Maxi Gomez was the main one, what happened to the others?

One striker West Ham targeted was Torino ace Andrea Belotti, with the Hammers allegedly offering a huge €50million (£43million) plus midfielder Pedro Obiang, but their swap bid was rejected according to Tuttomercatoweb.

West Ham chose not to go back in for the Italian, despite him smashing 17 goals last season. Now, Belotti is in even better form this season.

In seven Serie A goals, Belotti has hit five goals, as well as smashing six goals in six Europa League games, meaning his record for the season stands at 11 goals in 13 games; a frankly incredibly record.

Yet you can’t ignore his international form either, as he has also scored four goals in his last four Italy caps, meaning he simply cannot stop scoring this season.

West Ham will still probably feel they made the right choice with Haller, but 25-year-old Belotti is on fire at the moment, and if the Hammers’ player-plus-cash offer failed, you dread to think how much he would cost now.
