According to Spanish outlet Sport, Liverpool are interested in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong.
It was reported earlier this week that De Jong has been placed on the transfer list by Barcelona, and apparently, Liverpool are one of the sides keen on the Dutchman.
The midfielder has all of the talent in the world. He was touted as the next big thing to come out of Ajax at a young age, and his performances in the Netherlands earned him a move to Barcelona.
Unfortunately though, De Jong hasn’t been at his best for Barca recently, something that was noticeable against Bayern Munich earlier this week, but despite the midfielder’s underwhelming showings, Dirk Kuyt is still a big fan of the Barcelona man.
What’s been said about De Jong?
Kuyt was critical of De Jong for his performance against Bayern, but the former Liverpool man still believes in the midfielder’s ability.
“Against Bayern he did not look for a moment to see if there was an opportunity to shoot,’” Kuyt said this week to RTL7 Sport (via MailOnline).
“I would love to see that, because he is and continues to be a fantastic player who belongs at the top of Europe. That starts with daring [to attack] and if anyone has audacity in his game it is Frenkie de Jong.
“His nature is always to change the game, but he is not looking for the position to score.”

Klopp could unlock him
De Jong clearly has the talent to be a star, but unfortunately, any player in the world would struggle at Camp Nou right now.
Barcelona are a mess behind the scenes, their squad is overly-reliant on young players and they’re in financial ruin, so is it really any surprise to see that De Jong is struggling?
A move to Liverpool could be exactly what he needs. Jurgen Klopp is a great man-manager and the Anfield outfit are one of the best run clubs on the planet.
De Jong could prove that he’s star that Kuyt believes him to be if he heads to Merseyside.
