Jude Bellingham labelled Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka ‘the boy’ on Instagram after he netted a brace during England’s 6-2 win over Iran at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
It was a stage for England’s young guns to shine because, after Bellingham opened the scoring with a brilliant header, Saka then proceeded to net a brace on his World Cup debut.
From both players, it was a stunning introduction to football’s biggest stage and a big reason why they are so highly-rated and valued.

Not only did Saka get on the scoresheet twice – scoring more goals than Wayne Rooney has on the World Cup stage – but it’s the quality of goals that was pretty impressive.
From his stunning half-volley following a knockdown from Harry Maguire to his brilliant run and then left-footed finish in the second half, this was the time for Arsenal’s starboy to shine.
After the game, Saka posted on Instagram ‘what a feeling’ to which many players praised the 21-year-old in the comments section, including Bellingham, with Granit Xhaka sending heart emojis and Martin Odegaard posting an emoji of a crown.
MORE WORLD CUP GOALS THAN ROONEY
It’s pretty remarkable that after one game Saka already has more World Cup goals than England’s highest goal-getter, Wayne Rooney.
Given the quality Saka is showing, this is only the start and it could be a case of many World Cup journeys awaiting him in the coming years.
But, for now, England fans are enjoying watching the Hale-End star play the best football of his career, alongside other top performers like Bellingham, Mason Mount and Harry Kane.
