Diego Simeone has emerged as Everton owner Farhad Moshiri’s first choice to replace Ronald Koeman.
Everton fan Tony Bellew is desperate on Twitter to see Everton appoint Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone as Ronald Koeman’s replacement at Goodison Park.
Sky Sports claimed on their website that 47-year-old Simeone is Everton owner Farhad Moshiri’s first choice to fill the void left by Koeman, with three other options in the pipeline for the Toffees.
The report states that if Everton cannot lure Argentinian boss Simeone to Merseyside, then Sam Allardyce, Marco Silva and David Unsworth will be in with a shot of getting the job.
Champions boxer Bellew responded to the Sky Sports report by claiming he has wanted Simeone from “day one”, but is more than aware that the Toffees are likely to fail in tempting with the job as he remains in charge of one of Europe’s biggest sides in Atletico.
Simeone has crafted Atletico Madrid into one of the powerhouses of European football after joining in December 2011. he is unlikely to leave, with three years still remaining on his current deal.
Everton decided to sack Koeman after the Toffees were left in the relegation zone, following a 5-2 defeat to Arsenal on home soil. Interim boss Unsworth has struggled to steady the tide, winning only one of his four matches in charge against Watford.
Everton’s hierarchy will be looking to appoint a new manager before the end of the international break, with the Toffees set to go up against Crystal Palace on November 18.
