Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has suggested that Celtic fans could be shocked by how much they have been offered for Ivan Toney.
Speaking on the Hard Truth podcast, MacAnthony has revealed that Celtic fans have been telling him that he is demanding too much for Toney.
The Daily Record suggest that Peterborough want £9 million for the striker, with some Bhoys supporters thinking that the striker is overpriced.
But MacAnthony has now revealed that Posh have already accepted a bid of ‘a lot’ more than £5 million for Toney, which may come as a surprise to many Celtic fans.
“It’s been a frustrating time with regard to Ivan. I’ve had Celtic fans telling me we shouldn’t be asking £5 million for a League One player, but believe me the deal we negotiated a couple of weeks ago was for a lot more than that,” MacAnthony said.
“Ivan was given permission to speak to the club but so far nothing has happened.”
Celtic are still thought to be in the race for Toney, although their chances of landing the striker could be slim.

The Daily Record suggest that the Bhoys won’t pay Posh’s asking price unless it is reduced.
With Peterborough already accepting a sizeable offer for the 24-year-old striker, it would appear highly unlikely that they would now lower their valuation.
Toney finished as League One’s top goalscorer last term, after finding the net 26 times.
