Anderson Arroyo believes he is ‘very close’ to forcing his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans at Liverpool, while speaking to AS Colombia during a loan spell at Czech Republic outfit Mlada Boleslav.
If there is one position where the Reds are slightly lacking in depth, it is at left-back.
The fact that veteran midfielder James Milner remains Klopp’s go-to option whenever Andy Robertson is unavailable suggests that it is about time Liverpool bring in a new face to freshen up a specialist position.
And that is where Arroyo, something of a forgotten man amid the Liverpool fan base, comes in.
The 20-year-old is a left-back after all and, when he returns from Anfield following another temporary spell elsewhere, a promotion could be on the cards.
“I don’t think (a Liverpool debut) is that far away if I keep doing things well, if I sacrifice myself and give more,” said a man who joined Liverpool from Fortaleza in 2018.

“When (Liverpool) give me the opportunity to be with them again, I will continue to give everything I can and I’ll do things well.
“Many people in Liverpool believe in me. I think I can do it. I see it being very close.”
Arroyo is yet to feature in the famous red shirt, with the six-time European champions opting to farm him out on a series of loans in order to get around potential work permit problems.
The Colombia U23 star featured in five league matches for Mlada Boleslav before the season was put on hold due to the global health crisis.
