Belgian star has a liking for Southampton.
Christian Kabasele
Belgian international Christian Kabasele was one of the beneficiaries of Vincent Kompany’s pre-Euro 2016 injury, called into the squad by Marc Wilmots.
The Genk defender is yet to start a game for the Red Devils but told a press conference yesterday he feels at home in the squad.
He also expressed an affinity for a Premier League team courtesy of computer game Football Manager, when asked about what he had been doing with his down time.
Kabasele told Nieuwsblad: “As a relaxation I often play the computer game Football Manager. I just had a good season with Southampton, just my scouts liked Kabasele but I did not buy.”
Christian Kabasele
Kabasele may be hoping if he gets a chance this tournament he can put himself in the shop window this summer, having joined Genk in 2014.
His call up was well received in Belgium, with fans enthused to see a player from the Jupiler Pro League called up rather than another player from a foreign league.
His comment about the Saints show that even in a computer simulation their structure and talented players equips them to be successful, and that they should be an attractive job as they seek to replace Ronald Koeman.
