Ishak Belfodil was close to joining West Ham before agreeing a loan switch to Livorno and it seems he may regret not joining the Hammers.
It has been suggested that Inter-owned striker Ishak Belfodil made an odd piece of Italian transfer history by rejecting a January switch nine times before signing for Livorno.
The Algerian marksman was courted by West Ham, Queens Park Rangers, Catania and Sassuolo but he opted to sign for Serie A strugglers Livorno in the final hours of the transfer window.
West Ham were extremely close to agreeing a deal for the talented frontman and it appeared that he was set to move to East London but personal terms couldn’t be agreed.
“We gave up on Belfodil when the player told us that he’d prefer to experience playing in the Premier League,” Nereo Bonato told Tuttomercatoweb.
“It’s true that the player’s situation was unclear in the last hours of the transfer window but by that time we had Sergio Floccari.”
Belfodil will be officially presented at a press conference later today but he has already made an appearance as a substitute during Livorno’s 3-3 draw with Catania.
