Darragh MacAnthony has seemingly suggested that Celtic won’t be signing Siriki Dembele, at least on a free transfer.
Dembele’s contract at Peterborough United is set to expire this summer, although it is widely recognised that Posh have an option that will be taken to extend it for another year.
Celtic have already been linked with the skilful winger in the build up to the summer, with the Peterborough Telegraph saying that the Bhoys are keen on bringing him to Celtic Park.
But when asked whether Dembele would be making the move to Glasgow in the summer, Posh’s chairman seemed to bat away the suggestion.
Peterborough’s promotion to the Championship does increase the likelihood of Dembele staying with Posh.
However, the appeal of a move to Celtic is also clear.
Celtic already have Dembele’s younger brother, Karomoko, and his family live in Scotland.
Dembele would add vibrancy to Celtic’s front line if he was to join, as he tops the dribbling stats in the Football League this season, but MacAnthony has previously suggested that his valuation could be around £15 million (Hard Truth Podcast).
