Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to react after Il Resto Del Carlino revealed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants to sign Andrea Skov Olsen.

What’s the story?

Well, Rangers were interested in signing the 15-cap Denmark international in 2020, after Mauricio Pochettino had monitored the winger.

Now, with Olsen struggling at Bologna, the Scottish Premiership champions are keen to go back in for the 21-year-old forward.

Il Resto Del Carlino believe Real Sociedad and Besiktas are also keen on the Dane, who is yet to score in 14 Serie A outings this season.

The Italian news outlet believe Rangers have made contact and submitted an enquiry, with a January move possible.

One fan described Olsen as the ‘modern day Alan Smith’ while another said they are ‘begging’ for the Bologna No.11 to join Rangers.

In our view, the attacker would be a fantastic signing for Van Bronckhorst, as he’s a player with bundles of talent.

Sadly, things just haven’t clicked for Olsen in Italy.

Where would Andreas Skov Olsen fit in at Rangers?

Olsen has exclusively played on the right flank this season, which bodes well for his chances of game time at Ibrox.

Van Bronckhorst doesn’t really have an outlet on the right flank who can match what Ryan Kent offers on the left.

In that respect, Olsen could slot in on the opposite side to the ex-Liverpool winger, where both could terrorise the opposition full-backs.

In turn, that would create space for the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Fashion Sakala to cause havoc.

Things haven’t gone to plan at Bologna, but judging by Olsen’s international record, he can be dangerous – he’s scored six goals in 15 games for Denmark.

Having two direct, tricky wingers to face is always a handful, so the Bears could find a new dimension to their play under Bronckhorst if Olsen is signed.

For now, let’s see what the Rangers fans on Twitter have been saying about Il Resto Del Carlino‘s report…
