Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter in disbelief after Rio Ferdinand posted a tweet criticising the Glazers, Ed Woodward and the rest of the top six.
Ferdinand filmed a video of himself demanding answers about why the likes of John W Henry thought it was acceptable to join the Super League.
The BT Sport pundit makes a number of valid points, and there’s nothing wrong with his opinion on the face of it.
However, Newcastle fans have been left stunned at Ferdinand’s hypocrisy.
Back in March, the 42-year-old leapt to Mike Ashley’s defence amid criticism from the Toon Army.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand said Ashley is just ‘doing what he wants to do and what he thinks is right’ – hmmm.
Surely that same argument could be used for the Glazers and Woodward here, right Rio?
It seems his opinion changes depending on which club he’s talking about.
Interestingly, some fans think Ferdinand’s opinion on Newcastle is flawed because Ashley exclusively sells his FIVE merchandise in Sports Direct.
He wouldn’t want to start upsetting his business parter now, would he.
For the record, we don’t disagree with anything he said about the top six and their actions.
We just feel he needs to be a little more consistent in his views.
