Sky Sports reported last night that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have cooled their interest in Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The report was published on Sky Sports’ website at 9:44pm on Friday, and claimed that it is more likely that Tielemans will sign a one-year contract extension at Leicester.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Tielemans, but the Gunners are signing Fabio Vieira, so the Gunners are now not in desperate need of another midfielder, according to the report.

However, just hours later, well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano issued an update on the situation of the 25-year-old Belgium international.

Romano posted a tweet at 12:07am (Saturday) saying that Tielemans is not considering signing a new deal with Leicester, and that Arsenal have been working on a deal for a while.

The journalist’s post suggests that Arsenal remain keen on the 25-year-old.

Youri Tielemans would make Arsenal better

In our view, Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans would be a good signing for Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The midfielder has done well in the Premier League for the Foxes and has shown that he can succeed in England.

Leaving Leicester for Arsenal would be a step-up for Tielemans, who, we think, would be very tempted to move to the Emirates Stadium.
