Some Tottenham Hotspur fans are reacting to transfer gossip.
Well, kind of.
He isn’t exactly Kylian Mbappe in terms of profile, but Spurs have reportedly taken a youngster on trial.
When Tottenham’s first XI for an Under-18 clash was released on Saturday, the name Sayers stood out for some supporters.
And The Echo has reported that it is Charlie Sayers of Southend United.
The 17-year-old defender has already made his senior debut for the Shrimpers, clocking six games this season.
And here’s how some Lilywhites fans reacted to hearing who the mystery man – or teen – is.
Derogatory
Being a left-back, there was some insensitive comments from the fanbase about Ryan Sessegnon.
Sessegnon, also a left-back, was sent off in Spurs’ shock defeat by Slovenian minnows Mura on Thursday night.
And some supporters joked that Sayers was already better than the former Fulham prospect, who cost £20 million in 2019.
These are a small minority of Tottenham fans, it has to be said.
It’s a poor time for the Lilywhites to take a left-back on trial if you’re Ryan Sessegnon.
But the 21-year-old is a class act and it’ll be interesting to see what – if anything – comes off Sayer’s reported trial at the club.
