Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to Mikel Arteta’s comments about the club sorting out transfers in an early fashion this summer.
The under-fire Arsenal boss told the Telegraph that it would be ‘ideal’ to have everything completed as soon as possible.
But he made it clear that’s ‘not going to happen’, as he pointed towards the European Championships, which he thinks will delay things, as well as ‘many things’.
It’s not what the Arsenal fans want to hear and they think that Arteta is already rolling out the excuses.
Arsenal haven’t been known, even under Arsene Wenger, as a club to splash the clash and do all of their business early.
So, if it’s not in the club’s DNA to be ruthless and efficient in the market then it’s not going to change anytime soon.
But after an abject season, which could result in Arsenal missing out on European football for the first time in 25 years, you would think that would provide the club with a kick up the backside.
Clearly not!
It’s understandable why Arteta’s latest comments on Arsenal’s transfer plans would frustrate the fans even more.
Already, they aren’t optimistic about their board bringing some life and ambition back into the place, so this just proves the obvious will happen again.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if a week before the season starts, Arsenal fans are up in arms because not much has been done.
