Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg has taken to Twitter following the 1-0 win over Burnley to pinpoint a recurring theme under Jose Mourinho.
The Denmark international posted a photo of Toby Alderweireld strapped up with a bandage over his head, captioned: ‘The bandage becoming a trend!’
Højbjerg’s tweet comes after he too had to be strapped up in a head bandage during Tottenham’s recent Europa League win over LASK.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder didn’t let his nasty eye injury, nor the consequential headgear, affect his performance as he performed two daring roulettes on the edge of his own area.
As reported by The Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho said the Spurs squad went as far as comparing Højbjerg to Zinedine Zidane following the skill, but jokingly warned the Dane not to do it again.
Since signing from Southampton for £15 million in the summer, the 25-year-old has impressed in north London.
Højbjerg has started all six of Tottenham’s Premier League games.
In those outings, WhoScored shows he has recorded an impressive 2.3 tackles per game and also averages 88.8 passes per 90 minutes, as his industrial nature allows those more creative than him to thrive in attack.
Højbjerg’s efforts have helped Tottenham into fifth, where they are just two points off Everton, who sit top.
Mourinho’s men have, however, scored the most goals in the Premier League so far this season with 16 strikes in six games.
