Leeds United may have been struggling outside of the Premier League in recent times, but one thing that hasn’t changed over the years is their fanbase.

Following promotion to the Premier League, the Elland Road faithful were understandably keen to sign Ben White on a permanent basis from Brighton after his successful loan spell.

But it seems as though White’s parent club have got other ideas on their mind and it’s not going to be that easy to secure his services once again.

Sky Sports reported yesterday that Leeds had a £22 million bid rejected for White’s services from Brighton.

And almost instantly, Leeds fans on Twitter made their feelings known as they got the #FreeBenWhite trending on Twitter.

Within a couple of hours, #FreeBenWhite was trending number one in the UK and has so far seen over 20,000 people share or tweet about the hashtag.

Even former Leeds striker, Jermaine Beckford, got in on the act, as he sent this message from his Twitter account.

It’s quite clear that the unstoppable Leeds fans will not give up until White is their player. They just have to hope that those in the Elland Road boardroom are also of the same mindset.

As things stand, it does seem as though Leeds will do everything in their power to sign the ball-playing defender, who was a key reason as to why they earned promotion.

Whatever happens, one thing that will not be silenced is the Leeds faithful, who will bang on that drum until the window is shut or they have their man back in Yorkshire.
