Everton are reportedly pursuing Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca.

Everton may have beaten Stoke City 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, but the future of manager Sam Allardyce is far from secure ahead of the summer transfer window.
Allardyce was only appointed as Ronald Koeman’s replacement back in November, but mixed results and a stale brand of football have led fans to call for him to be replaced this summer.
Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri may oblige, with the Daily Mail claiming recently that Everton want to bring in Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca, having missed out on him in November.

The Portuguese boss, formerly of Porto, Pacos de Ferreira and Braga, has impressed since heading to Shakhtar in 2016, winning a domestic double in Ukraine before also winning the Ukrainian Super Cup last summer.
Now, O Jogo report that Fonseca is set to snub a new deal with Shakhtar in order to move on and manage elsewhere, with his major dream to manage in England – despite the fact that Paris Saint-Germain are interested as they consider replacements for Unai Emery.
Fonseca’s desire to manage in England is no doubt music to the ears of Moshiri, and the Toffees can make a real statement this summer if they can beat one of the European heavyweights to Fonseca’s signature.

The Premier League is a huge pull in itself, but Everton can’t come close to matching PSG’s financial power, and must sell the project to Fonseca in order to land him, meaning that if he does pick Everton over PSG, exciting times may be heading to Goodison Park.
It’s often claimed that Everton need to find their own version of Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino, and Fonseca – who guided Shakhtar into the last 16 of the Champions League this season and is on course to win another league title – fits the bill given his exciting brand of football at the Donbass Arena.
Bringing that to Everton would be hugely exciting for Everton fans, and pipping PSG to his signature would be a huge statement from the Toffees, who haven’t quite made the most of Moshiri’s millions just yet, but could move a step closer to getting where they want to be by completing an ambitious swoop for Fonseca this summer.
