Partick Thistle centre-back Liam Lindsay is on Leeds United’s radar – but David Moss could spur Huddersfield Town to challenge.

David Moss may well be missed at Celtic. The long-serving scout was the brains behind many successful operations at Parkhead, unearthing diamonds like Virgil Van Dijk, Moussa Dembele and Victor Wanyama and laying the foundations for them to move to Glasgow for minimal fees.

Inevitably, his talents have not gone unnoticed. The Daily Record report that Moss has left Celtic in order to take on the new Director of Football role at Huddersfield Town.

Succeeding Stuart Webber, whose own eye for a bargain took The Terriers from 17th in the Championship to the top flight in two years, Moss has big shoes to fill.

And with Huddersfield preparing for a first top flight campaign since 1972 while losing three of their most influential players, Danny Ward, Aaron Mooy and Izzy Brown, after their loan spells ended, Moss also has a huge challenge on his hands.

Typical Moss signing

Though joining the chase for Partick Thistle youngster Liam Lindsay would be a good start. The 21-year-old centre-back, whose fine performances in 2016/17 earned him a place in the Scottish Team of the Season, has been linked with Leeds United since as far back as December, per the Daily Record.

However, Lindsay is a classic Moss signing – he’s young, affordable and blessed with bags of potential. Furthermore, the long-serving Celtic scout will know him well from his time in the Scottish Premiership.

And nabbing the youngster from under the nose of Huddersfield’s Yorkshire rivals would certainly go down well at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Furthermore, manager David Wagner has demonstrated from his time in charge of Huddersfield and the Borussia Dortmund reserves that he has an affinity with young players.

With Moss and Wagner working in tandem, Lindsay could fulfil his potential at the Premier League debutants.
