Liverpool youngsters warned not to get ahead of themselves.

Liverpool youth coach Alex Inglethorpe has warned Liverpool youngsters Curtis Jones and Rafa Camacho not to believe they are on the brink of a first team breakthrough.

Jones and Camacho began last season with Liverpool’s under-18s and ended it training with the first team.

Inglethorpe told the Liverpool Echo that the duo should not assume they have made it, as their chance only came because the Reds had other older youngsters out on loan.

He said: “The way it worked last season gave the likes of Curtis and Rafa an opportunity, but that was in the absence of the likes of Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Sheyi Ojo.

“They need to be very careful that they don’t think they are necessarily the next in line.”

The youngsters could get a chance in pre-season as several of their first team players will be back late due to the World Cup.

But that could be as far as it goes, and the pair will have to re-adjust to academy football and try and continue their strong progress from last season.

Inglethorpe appears determined to keep their feet on the ground, so that when a chance really does come, they will be mature enough to take advantage of it.
